Beautiful Wedgewood England dancing fairy cameo brooch in blue and white set in gold tone (I believe gold filled but unmarked). This is signed Wedgewood Made In England on the back and is in the original box. Measures 1-1/4″ oval.
Cameos are always excellent fashion accessory choices and reflect the gentle, romantic periods in our history. The term cameo originally meant carving a design into a single material in bas-relief. They were usually done using shell, stone or other suitable materials. More modern cameos feature laser, early plastics and composition for the carving base.
Clean your cameos gently
, depending on the carving material and use a brush or canned-air for crevices. Watch out for temperature changes that can cause cracking especially in gemstone or shell and always put your jewelry on after any sprays or oils.
